Small parkTaiNan is Taiwans old capital. Thatīs why we expect to find some old houses. Unfortunately this is nearly impossible. Everything is build up new. This is strange but that`s the way it is. We decide to do a discovery tour by foot. First we walk through a small park in the middle of the city. Pretty layed out, probably like all parks in Taiwan. |

Temple and temples
|
During our way through the city we notice quite soon that there a millions of temples al around. Fortunately we find english written signs which we use to walk the smaller roads as well. Our tourist guide gives us some more spots to see and maps quiding us throughout the city. Itīs not that tricky to find our way. So we keep tracking for a few hours.

Europeans had put there feet on the Island too. But you have to watch out carefully to find the relicts. Portugese and Duch have tried to stay on the Island with little success. Fort Providentia (ChiKanLou) is one of the place. But only the basement is from their original brick wall. It has been rebuild by Chinese many times and especially the park around is worth to visit. The quiteness of the place is astonishing. A little bit outside the city center is Fort Zeelandia. Some canons and a sightseeing tower are to admire. On the platform of the tower a few historical maps show Fort Zeelandia was surrounded by the sea a few hundret years ago. Today it takes some more kilometers to reach the shore. Still Taiwan rises out of the ocean.
